NOTES

Words cant describe the importance of this album for
metal. Any black metal band in existence should lick the
boots of everyone that was involved with this CD, bow
down to their knees whenever they see one of these guys
and say Hail Celtic Frost.

These songs were written circa 1984/1985, two years or so
before the thrash explosion of 86. Absolutely mandatory!

Special deluxe reissue featuring
never-before-heard bonus material! Like
their name, meaning no definite form
or shape, AMORPHIS would once again
shatter boundaries and preconceptions
of how heavy music sounded with the
release of their third album, Elegy.
Containing some of AMORPHIS most
memorable melodic metal ever, Elegy
imperceptibly interweaves a keen sense
of melodic structure with harmonies from
Finnish folk-song, lush keyboard
atmospheres, psychedelic guitar tones,
and an array of vocal styles.

A critically-acclaimed metal masterpiece, Tales From The Thousand
Lakes perfectly combines elements of heavy metal, doom, death metal
and progressive rock into a talented and extremely tasteful
historical tribute based on Finlands national pole book The
Kalevala. Recorded in 1994 at Sunlight Studios, Tales From The
Thousand Lakes showed AMORPHIS crafting songs of the most epic
proportions, producing a classic metal album that stunned not only
the bands followers, but the entire metal underground. Even today,
Tales From The Thousand Lakes continues to be an obvious influence
on many metal acts. This deluxe re-issue contains the bands
renowned Black Winter Day EP, their cover of THE DOORs Light My
Fire and augmented packaging.

INFO:

Commented bassist/main songwriter Leif Edling:

The songs (on the new album) are about immortality,
depressions, demons, vampires, funerals and the almighty
devil that we all know very well, hehe. I love the way we
perform here. Robs (Lowe) singing and Lasses (Lars
Johansson, guitar) soloing are nothing but amazing!! The
production is also outstanding! The name Death Magic
Doom captures it perfectly! Great name! Love it! It is
very suitable for an album of this magnitude AND it also
describes what CANDLEMASS is about; Heavy, hard, epic,
colossal metal!!! I would say that Death Magic Doom is
the best album we have done since Nightfall (1987)!! In
all, (the LP contains) nearly 50 minutes of bone-crushing
and mind-blowing doom metal!!

BAND:

Robert Lowe - Vocals
Lars Lasse Johansson - Lead Guitar
Mats Mappe Bjorkman - Rhythm Guitar
Leif Edling - Bass
