Release notes

Here is the real retail of Lamb of Gods new album. The
sound of the album is alot more raw and may not seem
very clean to some people. Aside from that the album
still has a nice, heavy sound. A big thanks to pH for
their rip which now seems to be a promo retail and not
unmastered advance, but here is your VBR standard rip.

Lamb of God is:
Willie Adler - Lead and Rhythm Guitars
Chris Adler - Drums
Randy Blythe - Vocals
John Campbell - Bass
Mark Morton - Lead and Rhythm Guitars

About The Band:

These are heavy times, explains guitarist Mark
Morton. The looming war and the fear everyones
subscribing to...its hard for that not to infiltrate
your work. Armageddon needs a heavy metal soundtrack.

...and As The Palaces Burn just might be that
soundtrack. One of the most kinetic, technically
challenging and unabashedly heavy pieces of music
youre likely to hear, As The Palaces Burn is the
soundtrack to the confusion, fear and evil that affects
so many of us today. With timing of the release as
impeccable as the music, LAMB OF GOD have further
elevated their craft and risen to the very top of the
extreme metal scene - a scene of which they became a
part nearly eight years ago.

This doesnt happen by accident, of course. LAMB OF GOD
embody the most essential qualities of a successful
band: impeccable skill, a tireless work ethic and,
perhaps most importantly, character. Hailed as the
heroes of new American metal by legions of fans across
the country, LAMB OF GOD have taken influences from
bands like Slayer, Pantera and Sepultura and injected a
contemporary extreme music aesthetic to create an
unmistakable signature sound. With one of the most
charismatic frontmen in rock and four awe-inspiring
players behind him, LAMB OF GOD have mastered a
sophisticated sound that transcends genres and can be
appreciated by any open-minded music fan.

In their salad days in Richmond, VA, LAMB OF GOD
members Morton, singer Randy Blythe, bassist John
Campbell and drummer Chris Adler operated under the
moniker BURN THE PRIEST. After releasing their
self-titled album, a split 7, and a split EP with
Agents Of Satan, the band changed their name to LAMB OF
GOD, added guitarist Will Adler (brother of Chris
Adler) and signed to Prosthetic Records.

Armed with a new name, new label and ten devastating
new songs, the band teamed up with producer Steve
Austin (Converge, Today Is The Day, Unsane) to create
their debut, New American Gospel - a sonically
pummeling album that became one of the best-received
independent metal albums ever recorded. The success of
the album landed the band on MTV, Much Music, DC Shoes
commercials, and Fox Sports Net, in addition to some of
the hottest tours of the past three years, including
runs with Cannibal Corpse, Mushroomhead, GWAR, Six Feet
Under, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and Amen.

Praise for the band reached a crescendo when Revolver
magazine listed New American Gospel as one of the 69
Greatest Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time in its
September/October 2002 issue. With expectations for
their new material threatening to burst through the
ceiling, the quintet entered the studio with producer
Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Soilwork, Stuck
Mojo) and met the challenge with all guns blazing. As
The Palaces Burn delivers the violent blend of thrash,
death metal and groove their fans have come to expect,
but is poised to blow a new set of minds with the
infusion of more melody. The album also features guest
performances by former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland,
Today Is The Day frontman and New American Gospel
producer Steve Austin, and Strapping Young Lad
frontman/guitarist and producer Devin Townsend.

We approached this record with a more conceptual and
song oriented focus, rather than just stringing riffs
together, says Morton. Its more of a cohesive piece
- another step in our evolution.

Eight years of rock and roll have paid off in spades
for LAMB OF GOD. Two names, three albums and countless
shows - grinding days in the studio, endless hours in
the van and ferocious nights on stage - Lamb Of God are
re-defining American metal with each move.

RELEASE-NOTES...

New Lamb Of God LP comes out August 31, 2004 -- buy
it! Until then, enjoy this fucking awesome Ozzfest
EP.

Originally known by the less-than-subtle moniker
Burn the Priest, Richmond, VA-based Lamb of God
decided to change their name shortly after the
release of a self-titled debut in 1998. Featuring
vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and
Will Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris
Adler, the newly rechristened Lamb of God was
launched in the year 2000 with their acclaimed New
American Gospel album. The group then embarked on a
lengthy touring spree, spending much of the next two
years preaching their pure American death metal at
major heavy metal festivals and small clubs alike.
Work on a follow-up effort with producer and
Strapping Young Lad mastermind Devin Townsend took
place in between these many road jaunts, so that
Lamb of Gods sophomore As the Palaces Burn was
released in summer 2003.

This EP was signed by the band.. so check out their
signatures. KzT pimps it with the best of em.

R E L E A S E N O T E S

The roots of Lamb of God were planted in 1990 when
Mark Morton, Chris Adler and John Campbell were floor
mates at Virginia Commonwealth University. The trio
began playing at Adlers house in Richmond weathering
chilly conditions. There was no heat at the house,
recalls Campbell. We would freeze our asses off, get
really drunk and hang around the kerosene heaters
trying to write metal songs. Kerosene fumes and Black
Label beer were definitely what fueled our early
days.

After graduation, Morton moved to Chicago to pursue a
masters degree, but the band continued. A new
guitarist, Abe Spear, replaced Morton as the band
retired its instrumental sound and added Blythe on
vocals.

The quartet, known then as Burn the Priest, became a
fixture in the tightly-knit Richmond music scene. To
compete with the high-level of musicianship displayed
by their contemporaries, the band adopted a rigid
practice schedule. To this day, we practice five days
a week out of necessity, says Campbell. The bands in
Richmond can flat outplay you and if you dont
practice, they will blow you off the stage. Bands like
Breadwinner and Slanglouse - two local math-metal
bands - could play insanely complicated music note
perfect. They inspired us to raise the bar musically
and taught us the work ethic we needed to be a
success.

The band was playing around Virginia when Morton moved
back from Chicago and re-joined the group. Soon after,
Burn the Priest released a self titled full length
album on Legion Records. Abe left soon after, which
opened a spot for guitarist, and brother to Chris -
Willie Adler.

A year after the second Adler joined, Burn the Priest
changed its name to Lamb of God and signed a record
deal with Prosthetic Records. The bands
independent-debut, New American Gospel, was released
in 2000. This album was all about creating a rhythmic
and pummeling musical landscape with riff after riff,
explains Morton.

Two years of extensive touring to support the album
raised Lamb of Gods profile before the band released
the critically acclaimed, As The Palaces Burn (2003).
ATPB won record of the year honors in such notable
Magazines as Revolver and Metal Hammer while garnering
mainstream press in Rolling Stone and Entertainment
Weekly.

The band hit the road again and began headlining tours
before signing with Epic Records. In the fall of 2003
Lamb of God was a co-headliner on the first ever MTVs
Headbangers Ball Tour which elevated Lamb of Gods
profile beyond the underground. As it entered the
studio to record Ashes of the Wake, the band released
Terror and Hubris, a DVD featuring live performances,
videos for Ruin and Black Label and
behind-the-scenes footage highlighting the work ethic,
humility and sense of humor of one of the most
respected and influential bands around today. The DVD
proved to be a commercial success as it entered the
Billboard Music DVD Charts at #32.

After writing and recording three independent releases
at a deliberate pace, Lamb of God was shocked to
finish its major-label debut, Ashes of the Wake, in
just five months. The Virginia-based progressive metal
quintet agrees this is its most natural sounding
album.

During the 10 years weve been playing together, this
band has never stopped pushing the boundaries of what
a metal band is supposed to sound like, says drummer
Chris Adler. With this record we allowed our
instincts and experience to shape each song as a piece
of the larger picture. We let the songs dictate their
own direction instead of pushing individual agendas.

Lamb of God was not only a headlining act on the
Second Stage at Ozzfest 2004 this summer but their
first single, Laid to Rest, from Ashes of the Wake
also appears - in demo form - on the Ozzfest 2004
Sampler. The songwriting process for Laid to Rest,
illustrates Lamb of Gods accelerated creative process
for their new CD Ashes of the Wake. This song came
together so quickly it gave us chills, recalls Chris
Adler. Let me put it this way, it can take up to a
year for the entire band to agree that a song is
finished, but it only took two days for everyone to
put their stamp of approval on Laid to Rest. We
couldnt believe it then, or now.

Lamb of God does not create the typical heavy metal
verse/chorus/verse/chorus/solo/outro type of music.
The songs are diverse, progressive and intelligent.
Songs like the instrumental Ashes of the Wake show
how wide a net of influence and ability Lamb of God
are able to cast. Keeping a musicians band aura and
credibility and headlining countless sold out shows
are two things that dont often run together. Lamb of
God is an anomaly to the system.

We play music that straddles the line between prog
and traditional rock, explains Campbell. I think we
make prog-rock more listenable without cheapening the
progressiveness of it. The complexity of our music
appeals to people who like technical playing, but the
arrangements are not so extreme that they fly over the
average listeners head. Its a good balance.

The political angst that fueled the lyrics on As The
Palaces Burn continues unabated on Ashes of the Wake.
However, Blythe admits that his plans to write songs
about personal responsibility quickly changed. Mark
and I write most of the lyrics together, and at the
start of this album we agreed that we wanted to
concentrate on internal instead of external politics,
he explains. But as we got into it, considering the
condition of the world today, we felt obligated as
responsible artists to give accurate social
commentary, and that meant writing a few indictments
against the powers that be.

Mixing a call to arms with a sneering disdain for the
White Houses current occupant balances Ashes of the
Wake. In the end, I think the album is stronger
because we show the relation between internal and
external politics instead of just focusing on one or
the other, Blythe says. These songs are a reality
check for everyone because they rail against a
wrong-headed government and against the apathetic
people that ignore the government and allow it to
exist.

Ashes of the Wake captures Lamb of God taking comfort
in musical risks. Well always be a thrash metal
band, explains Morton, but Im interested in
exploring what we can get away with within the
boundaries of the genre.

Release comments

The creative force behind the genre-defying, legendary
metal titans FEAR FACTORY, guitarist Dino Cazares, has
returned with a mind-blowing, scathing new offering
that shatters the boundaries of conventionality with
unrelenting intensity, precision and speed. This new
offering from Cazares extreme metal juggernaut DIVINE
HERESY also features one of the genres most acclaimed
drummers, Tim Yeung (ex-NILE, VITAL REMAINS), bassist
Joe Payne (ex-NILE) and newcomer vocalist Travis Neal
(ex-THE BEREAVED, PUSHED). This pummeling new offering,
Bringer Of Plagues, redefines the meaning of
aggression and takes extreme to an all new level.

DIVINE HERESY teamed up once again with acclaimed
producing team Dirty Icon (Logan Mader and Lucas
Banker) who has recently produced CAVALERA CONSPIRACY,
GOJIRA, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.

Bringer of Plagues features the legendary machine-gun
riffs thatll take your breath away, combined with some
jaw-dropping double-bass drum insanity. This album
undeniably upped the ante in brutality, precision and
technicality as the group are more focused and tighter
than ever before.

After a year and a half of touring with the likes of
ALL THAT REMAINS, STATIC-X, ARCH ENEMY, SHADOWS FALL
and CHIMAIRA, DIVINE HERESY have proven that they are a
stellar live act and are a force to be reckoned with.

Cazares comments: With Neal now having a few shows
under his belt, his confidence is coming across through
the new material. The songwriting process has been
great and the ideas are constantly flowing.
Collaborating with Tim Yeung, Joe Payne and Neal, all
together hashing out ideas in the practice space has
been very therapeutic and enjoyable. We all have a
collective desire to take our performances to the next
level with this release to undoubtedly prove that we
are one of the most devastating bands in the scene
today.

Cazares doesnt accept second best. As youd expect
from the man who co-founded both FEAR FACTORY and
BRUJERIA, his new band isnt about to tread well-worn
primrose paths. Meet DIVINE HERESY not so much a
metal band for the modern era as crimson innovators
ready to transcend time and place. You see, when youve
already made your mark with bands like those mentioned
above, there are two things you can do. I could have
carried on being successful in Latin America with
BRUJERIA, and my other band, ASESINO, admits the
guitarist. But that wasnt enough. I wanted to do
something that would go beyond what Ive achieved
before. Something to take metal into the 21st century.

He continues, I know that my fans expect something
special from me. And I would never let them down. With
every project that Ive done, whats been important is
to ensure that I deliver music that doesnt just meet
peoples expectations, but goes beyond them. Thats
important to me. I know that I could coast along and do
well on the back of my reputation, but that would be to
cheat everyone including myself. I really do believe
that with DIVINE HERESY, Im once again setting the
highest standards.

Enjoy!

Talent and charisma are key ingredients for any professional musician, but
without dedication and perseverance, many bands quickly fade to black. Then
there are those like Orlando, Florida band Trivium, who are so determined, their
behavior borders on insanity.

The day before Hurricane Charlie decimated Florida, Trivium were playing the
House of Blues in Atlanta. While they knew they were up against their own
Perfect Storm, they decided not cancel the next night's show in their hometown.
“We drove a van with a trailer right through the eye of the hurricane,” 18 year
old singer and guitarist Matt Heafy says. “[Drummer] Travis [Smith] drove the
whole way and he was like Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible' or something. He
just kept going and we made it for the show.” Showing his dedication Heafy says,
“we all live for this band. We wake up, practice a little bit on our own and
then go to band practice and play for hours and hours. That's all we do, and all
we want to do for the rest of our lives.”

The same type of dedication and youthful exuberance goes into the band's music.
Ascendancy, the group's second album, their first on Roadrunner Records, is
filled with carefully crafted songs that surge with energy, passion and
originality. Like their solid 2003 debut Ember To Inferno, Ascendancy is rooted
in '80s and '90s thrash, recalling the glory days of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera
and Testament. But, the new disc doesn't stop there, incorporating aspects of
melodic death metal and even prog-rock. Twin guitar harmonies and
point/counterpoint dynamics abound, twisting around vocals that alternate from
melodic and pained to caustic and full of rage. “We had so much more to work
with this time,” says Heafy of the Jason Suecof-produced disc. “I had great
guitar sounds, Travis is playing like a machine and the vocals are so much more
multi-dimensional.”

While the first album, lyrically, addressed romantic disillusionment and child
abuse, this time the songs confront spousal abuse, suicide, depression, tyranny
and freedom of speech. However, even at his most poignant, Heafy prefers
expressing gut emotion to preaching. “I've found that when you have a negative
aspect in your life, you can find so much negativity in other people's lives
around you, and in the world. For me, it's good to write about the negativity to
get some of it out of my system.”

Trivium formed in 2000 after the band's original singer saw Heafy perform the
Offspring's “Self Esteem” with a drummer at his high school talent show. The
band members chose the name Trivium, which is Latin for the intersection between
the three schools of learning: grammar, rhetoric and logic, because they liked
the way it implied an open-mindedness to different styles, and summed up their
musical aesthetic. After a couple of gigs at parties, the original singer quit
the band and Heafy took the wheel. For the next two years, the band honed its
sound, and in 2002 Heafy won the Best Metal Guitarist Award at the Orlando Metal
Awards. Trivium headed into the studio in the beginning of 2003 to record their
first high-quality demo disc. From this, German label Lifeforce signed Trivium
and sent the band into the studio to record Ember To Inferno.

After going through various lineups, the band finally found guitarist Corey
Beaulieu, who compliments Heafy's precision playing with solid riffs that help
anchor the songs. Landing a bassist was even more difficult. Numerous players
came and went before Paolo Gregoletto, who has jammed with Iron Maiden drummer
Nicko McBrain, was brought in just in time for the tour with Machine Head.
Feeling so strongly about the group, their music and their dedication to their
craft, Paolo left another group to be a part of Trivium.

By July 2004, Trivium had 80 percent of the material for Ascendancy written and
fine-tuned. Then in September, the band headed into Audiohammer and Morrisound
Studios with Suecof, where they recorded the songs. As much as Trivium enjoyed
their studio experience, they're happiest on the road. In the past year they've
embarked on tours with Machine Head and Iced Earth as well as played dates with
Killswitch Engage, Fear Factory and others, and won over new fans with every
show. “What's cool about a tour is every night's a party,” Heafy says. “It's not
always because everyone's drinking, but people are getting along well and
hanging out. The energy from the crowds is amazing.”

With their second album finished and on the shelf, Trivium look forward to
spending most of the year on the road – which doesn't mean they're not
constantly working on new material. While they're currently working their way up
the thrash metal totem pole, they're not planning to settle for reaching any
level but the summit of the mountain.
